Zayar Aye Describe – Artist U Tin Aye September 29, 2019 The reason why the name “Mandalay” after his name is there are two U Tin Aye in the artist field. He was born in 1940 at Nyan Taw village located in Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay state. But he grew up in Mandalay. After he finished his university, he worked at military and also at archeology department for so long. Later, around 1974, he worked as an instructor at State School of Fine Arts (Mandalay). Since he mostly created boats and ships paintings, most of the people called him as Hlay Tin Aye. Since he was fortunate, he got chances to record the painting of ancient merchant ships. There are so many boat sketches he left while he went along the Irrawaddy river. Also, there are many panorama sketches he drew and I maintain those sketches till now. This sketch was drawn while he was sitting above the Nat-The-Mee bank in Bagan. This sketch was created five or six months before he passed way and one of the recent sketches he drew. Although he mostly created the paintings with oil color, the different thing here is that this painting was painted in acrylic. Since this painting is painted from above view, he had to paint this one in details. It might be easy if someone create the boat painting from the side view of it but ,from the above view, one has to know the detail components of a boat in order to create this kind of painting.
